Some of reviews from our customers

Thank you for (another) wonderful New Year Week at Byre Cottage (a third time!). It really feels like a home from home. Mark and Paul (Bristol) 30th Dec 2014 – 6th Jan 2015

Although we haven’t travelled too far, we have spent a lovely, peaceful and relaxing half-term break in this cosy, well-equipped cottage. Lots to see and do to keep everyone happy. We’ve walked our socks off visiting the local area – Stanhope, Alston, St, John’s Chapel, Ireshopeburn, High Force, as well as Daddry Shield!!  From the Belton Family (Stockton-on-Tees), Oct 2014

The cottage has been a wonderful place for a family holiday – cosy nights by the fire, suppers in thr welcoming kitchen, and a good base to visit our son who has just begun studying at Durham University. We hope to return soon.  Paddy, Rebecca, Anna, and Tom (and Leo who joined us for supper one evening). London. Oct 2014

We have had such a good holiday in your lovely homely cottage. We are now totally relaxed. Would be sad to leave but we are definitely coming back! We love the area so much and couldn’t have wanted for a more homely place to stay. Patsy + Sheila, Scarborough, Sept 2014

Had a lovely stay in this beautiful cottage, very comfortable beds, lovely views from every windows. Adam, Sharlene, + Faye Willing, Gillingham, Kent, Aug 2014

Enjoyed the beautiful scenery, birds, animals and tranquil setting of this lovely cottage, where had everything we needed for a lovely holiday. Ruth, Peter, Mike and Margaret, West Yorkshire, June 2014

We have spent a lovely week at Byre Cottage. The North Pennines is a beautiful area with great twalks right on the door stop! Our grand-daughter (11 months) really enjoyed herself - the lounge being a great room to play and explore. She particularly enjoyed the cast-iron bath – wonderful for making different sounds! Brudan, Margaret, Helen, Martin, and most importantly Julia (11 months) May 2014

Your cottage is spacious, yet retaining a very cosy felling and the character of the building. Over the years we have spent holidays in cottages. However, we felt this one has been the one that ticked all of boxes. (Brian and Susan from Durham)

A (second!) great New Year in Byre Cottage …. ( Mark and Paul from Bristol)

The views around and about are fabulous and the sheep and wild life fascinating – “What is life if, full of care. We have no time to stand and stare” exactly describes our experience. (Judy and Norman from Arbroath and Mary and Tony from Ruislip, N.W. London)

We have explored all around and about seeing wonderful waterfalls, especially after the rain. (Nick and Mandy from Wolverhampton)

As our first visit to your lovely cottage we can see why you fell in love with it. … Love the views from the windows, enjoyed feeding the birds…. ( Ian and Chris from Sheffield)

Thank you for letting us use your cottage for the second time. The family are already talking about next time. We are still finding fresh things to do. (Joanne, Jerry and family)

Thank you for a lovely cottage in a wonderful, idyllic location. Hanging out the washing with little lambs bleating over the stone fence – memorable! Enjoyed our stay in the region. My paternal grandpa was born and also my maternal, great-great-grandfather was born, both in Stanhope.(Chees from the Robsens – Chris, Lisa, Misa (13) Astrid (9) and Giles (6) from North Turramurra, Sydney, Australia)

Thank you so much for your warm welcome in your beautiful, spacious cottage. My boyfriend, my mother and I have had a wonderful time exploring the villages surrounding this beautiful location. We have also enjoyed watching the sunset from the back garden. It’s been glorious, peaceful and relaxing, just what we needed. (Angela and Richard)

This has been a great place to be for the new year! Fantastic walks in all directions. A warm and comfortable cottage with great views. (Mark and Paul from Bristol, New Year)

We have been very comfortable throughout our stay. It is a good centre for getting to all the area and are reluctant to leave. We would have no hesitation in recommending your cottage to any of our friends. (Joan and Terry from Scunthorpe, August)

We love this cottage! A real home-from-home in a stunning location. We’ve been spoilt for choice with things to do, we’ve had a fab week.
(The Claytons (all six of us) from West Yorkshire, August)

Lovely cottage. Ideally placed for exploring the area. The cottage is far more spacious than it appears on the website. It’s so peaceful here, we kept oversleeping!
(Martin and Sue from Doncaster. July

It was a pleasure to come back to after walking in the beautiful countryside surrounding the cottage and beyond. (Ame and Ken from Derbyshire, June)

It is a charming place to stay and explore. To wake each morning to the bleeting of the lambs was truely marvelous. We have lots of wonderful memories to take back with us. (Jeanette and Rod from Australia, April)

We have had a wonderful time in your cottage. I don't think there could be anywhere with better views. (Celia, Michael and Jean from Wales, March)

Most Dramatic Journey

Has been made for the second time by Keith Family from Isle of Wight, driving an old Citroen Fire Engine, which drew a great deal of attention from the locals.
