Some of reviews from our customers

Thans again. We've had wonderful walks, some quiet days just shopping, had a lovely day at Raby Castle - interesing. The cottage here has become such a big part of my life - it's "home" in Daddry. (Sheila, May 2018)

We have had a realy lovely time in yor cottage and in exploring the area. We have enjoyed "ringside seats" duing the lambing season. The cottage is very easy to settle into. (Christina and sister, April 2018)

I have had a lovely holiday and I would like to live here (Lexie). I have had a very nice holiday this week and I will want to come back again (Kieran). I had a wonderful time here and while we were here we went to go outdoor swiming pool and fishing. Plus I got some cherry, ... , really tasty (Emilie). (Children from Archer Family, August 2018)

Our first time to this part of the country and will defintely return. Lovely, comfortable cottage in a perfect position - so quiet. .. ... ( Steve and Sharon, Kent, May 2017)

Lovely week in a lovely cottage. Killhope Lead Mine possibly the highlight of the week with the children! Perfect base for exploring the Wear Valley. (The Archer family, Sunderland, Sept 2016)

Thank you for (another) wonderful New Year Week at Byre Cottage (a third time!). It really feels like a home from home. Mark and Paul (Bristol) 30th Dec 2014 – 6th Jan 2015

The cottage has been a wonderful place for a family holiday – cosy nights by the fire, suppers in thr welcoming kitchen, and a good base to visit our son who has just begun studying at Durham University. We hope to return soon.  Paddy, Rebecca, Anna, and Tom (and Leo who joined us for supper one evening). London. Oct 2014

Had a lovely stay in this beautiful cottage, very comfortable beds, lovely views from every windows. Adam, Sharlene, + Faye Willing, Gillingham, Kent, Aug 2014

Your cottage is spacious, yet retaining a very cosy felling and the character of the building. Over the years we have spent holidays in cottages. However, we felt this one has been the one that ticked all of boxes. (Brian and Susan from Durham)

The views around and about are fabulous and the sheep and wild life fascinating – “What is life if, full of care. We have no time to stand and stare” exactly describes our experience. (Judy and Norman from Arbroath and Mary and Tony from Ruislip, N.W. London)

Thank you for a lovely cottage in a wonderful, idyllic location. Hanging out the washing with little lambs bleating over the stone fence – memorable! Enjoyed our stay in the region. My paternal grandpa was born and also my maternal, great-great-grandfather was born, both in Stanhope.(Chees from the Robsens – Chris, Lisa, Misa (13) Astrid (9) and Giles (6) from North Turramurra, Sydney, Australia)

We love this cottage! A real home-from-home in a stunning location. We’ve been spoilt for choice with things to do, we’ve had a fab week.
(The Claytons (all six of us) from West Yorkshire, August)

It is a charming place to stay and explore. To wake each morning to the bleeting of the lambs was truely marvelous. We have lots of wonderful memories to take back with us. (Jeanette and Rod from Australia, April)
